| The ICU |
|
| The Child Care Centre has a small ICU with warmers. We have I.V stands, a suction apparatus, nebulizer and trained nurses specialized in neonatal care. New-borns and children with major medical problems are admitted to hospitals. |

| Informal School |
|
| For the older children an informal school programme is followed. The following are taught: English : Alphabets - small and big, reading, writing and grammar Arithmetic : Numbers, figures and words, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, tables, etc. Science : Colours, animal, plant, and human life. EVS : Cleanliness and hygiene, our universe, country and our surroundings The above topics are taken from relevant text books. Children are taught rhymes and action songs and are read stories. They are also taken on nature walks, outings during holidays. Children are also involved in colouring and drawing, working with blocks, shades, flash cards, etc. Attention is given to the holistic development of the child. This would ensure that there is a development of three Q's i.e. intellectual, emotional and spiritual. |

| When children are at risk of being separated from their families because of problems arising out of unemployment, vices, marital disputes, sickness or death in the family, Vathsalya intervenes and works with the family providing counselling services and psychological and financial support. This is a long-term programme requiring regular assessments |
